Porto Montenegro recently celebrated the opening of its marina extension, which has incorporated a further 150 berths into its offering, following customer demand.

The marina now offers a total of 400 berths with capacity for 100 superyachts up to 180m.

Marina director, Porto Montenegro, Tony Browne commented on the news: "This new berth mix will appeal to all ends of the market but especially for super and mega-yachts, which will soon be supported by a nearby state-of-the-art maintenance and refit facility. We are also particularly excited to now offer a rare 180m berth."

Director of design and construction, Adriatic Marinas, Tony Scholes added: "The completion of these works is another significant step forward for Porto Montenegro, firmly placing it as the leading mega yacht marina in the Mediterranean. In turn, expansion of the marina will induce growth across the whole site, attracting further businesses to and generating more employment in the area."

With the closing of the month-and-a-half long Dubrovnik Summer Festival, Croatian National Tourist Board is also promoting various festivals being hosted in the country.

Having begun August 25, until August 30, 2014, this year's Vukovar Film Festival in its eighth edition will present a record number of 87 new films in seven different locations, including winners of some of the recent prestigious international film festivals.

August 27-31, 2014 sees the Dimensions Festival return to the Punta Christo fortress in Štinjanu, near the city of Pula for the third year running.

All the while, beginning the very next day, from August 28-31, the Renaissance Festival is the largest event of its kind in this part of Europe, bringing together lovers of music, dance and food of that period.

In September 4-8, for film fans, Kinookus food film festival (Kinookus FFF) is an international film festival that promotes open-air cinema culture and aims to preserve cultural and environmental awareness in young people.

And for youngsters, or the young at heart, from September 3-7, visitors can attend the city of Pula hosting the Outlook festival, the largest European bass and sound festival which takes place on the Punta Christo fortress in Štinjan, near the city of Pula.

For those who are more traditionally inclined, September 12-21 will see the Vinkovačke Jeseni festival in its 49th edition will present the rich history of the Slavonia region under the theme of 'Wide Slavonian Meadow'.

And finally, from 18-21 September, the international lace festival promotes the tradition of the value of lace as ethnographic treasure and it has been taking place since 1997.

Inviting guests to quench their thirst over the summer months and enjoy a varied line up of artists from the music industry, the 12th Belgrade Beer Fest is to soon launch, from August 13 to 17, 2014 at Ušće.

The festival, which usually attracts 500,000 people over the five days, has free entrance, an exceptional music programme, and a wide range of foreign and domestic beer brands.

This year's festival is set to include major names within the music industry such as CeeLo Green as well as a major star from the region, Parni Valjak. Furthermore, two DJs from the world music scene will be attending, Felix Da Housecat and Darren Emerson.

The following four nights of the festival will also feature top musicians from the country and the region including Bajaga i instruktori, Plavi orkestar, Van Gogh, Hladno pivo, Goblini, Bad Copy, YU grupa, among others.

Prime Minister of Serbia, Aleksandar Vučić recently announced the master plan of the $3.3 billion Belgrade Waterfront, a brand new city hub along River Sava, developed by UAE-based private investment company, Eagle Hills.

At a ceremony held in Belgrade, Vučić unveiled the key components of Belgrade Waterfront, which is designed to energise the local economy by creating a smart, tech-savvy 'city within the city'.

"This project means a new birth for Serbia. Belgrade will become the regional centre, and Serbia a country that attracts the greatest number of tourists and investors in the region. We are going to build something that Serbia will be proud of. The project will bring progress for the entire country – it will advance our industry, HoReCa (hotel/restaurant/café), tourism, and most of all, our construction industry," he declared.

Belgrade Waterfront, developed with the support of the Serbian government, will span an area of one million m². The project will be identifiable by Kula Belgrade, an iconic tower that overlooks River Sava, standing tall at over 200m.

Belgrade Waterfront is set to comprise The Belgrade Mall, with a gross construction area of over 140,000 m²; residences; commercial hubs; eight premium and affordable value hotels; educational institutions; healthcare amenities; as well as a range of leisure attractions.

The project has the potential to create over 20,000 jobs in its development and a similar number following its launch.

Tourist arrivals and overnight stays increased by 9.8 per cent and 12.6 per cent respectively, according to recent figures released by the National Institute of Statistics in Romania.

Furthermore, in comparison to May 2013, customs registered an increase in both the arrivals of
foreign visitors at 0.4 per cent and in the departures abroad of the Romanian visitors of 6.0 per cent in May 2014.

Most of the foreign visitors came from European countries (91.0 per cent), while 61.9 per cent of the total arrivals of the foreign visitors to Romania were from European Union Member
States – out of which most arrivals were from Hungary (29.1 per cent), Bulgaria (24.9 per cent), Germany (9.6 per cent), Italy (7.6 per cent), Poland (4.8 per cent) and Austria (4.2 per cent).

The figures also revealed that between January and the end of May, 2014, compared to the same period last year, arrivals increased by 6.2 per cent and overnight stays rose by 9.9 per cent.

Visitors to Belgrade, Serbia, can now enjoy a unique way to explore the city of Belgrade.

Tourists are now offered the opportunity to sightsee while riding their very own scooter.

The tour, beginning at 13:00 lasting a total of four hours, includes the rental of a scooter (for those with a valid driving licence over the age of 21), a driver (optional) and a headset for communication. Leading the way will be a tour guide, who will guide the group through the city's many attractions and landmarks.

Tickets are available for booking and purchasing at the tourist information centre in Knez Mihailova 5.

Greece's tourism industry is on the up with tourism receipts for April 2014 having risen by 35.8 per cent, compared to the same month last year, according to figures released by the Bank of Greece recently.

The figures highlighted that in April 2014 tourism receipts reached €411 million whereas in April 2013, they reached €303 million.

A breakdown of the figures pointed to the fact that an increase of 39.6 per cent in tourism receipts came from residents of the 28-member EU countries. There was also a 34.7 per cent rise from visitors of non-EU countries.

A 50.9 per cent rise in arrivals from Germany and an 8.4 per cent from France were highlighted. Furthermore, the figures stressed an extraordinary 61.3 per cent surge in arrivals from the UK compared to the same time last year.

According to the press release, the surge in tourism receipts is a result of a rise in arrivals as well as the average expenditure per trip by 30.6 per cent and 5.3 per cent respectively.
