airBaltic connects Riga with Burgas, Varna and Bucharest,-varna-and-bucharest.html,-varna-and-bucharest.html airBaltic connects Riga with Burgas, Varna and Bucharest

March has seen airBaltic connect the Latvian capital of Riga with three new destinations in the Balkans region – Burgas and Varna in Bulgaria and Bucharest in Romania.

Following an agreement with the international tour operator Tez Tour, summer flights from Riga to Burgas will start on May 25, 2014, and will be offered twice per week. The first flight on the new Varna route is scheduled to commence on June 24. Both of the Bulgarian routes will be served by a Boeing 737-300 aircraft, and a full schedule of airBaltic flights can be found on the company's homepage.

Chief commercial officer, airBaltic, Christophe Viatte commented: "This is already the second new route this year to the Bulgarian Black Sea coast that we offer in partnership with TezTour, and now Burgas and Varna add to the excellent range of destinations available to holidaymakers. For the upcoming summer season we will discontinue a number of routes, recording somewhat weaker demand. This move makes an aircraft capacity available for the new route."

General manager – the Baltics, Tez Tour, Konstantins Paļgovs added: "We are delighted that, in addition to our Greek and Turkish destinations, we improve our charter programme offering and link the Baltic region with the Bulgarian Black Sea coast by launching four weekly flights – two to Burgas and two to Varna – in partnership with airBaltic."

Flights to Bucharest are set to start on June 3, 2014, and are to be operated four times per week by a Bombardier Q400 NextGen aircraft.

"The new route will be of huge benefit to travellers visiting Riga and Bucharest for business or leisure, in addition to offering seamless connections over our hub, particularly in northern Europe," said Viatte.
